By train

Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina station is underground, next to the terminal. SKM line S2 goes to Śródmieście (a short walk from Warszawa Centralna) and S3 to Warszawa Centralna, each about every 30 minutes; the Koleje Mazowieckie RL runs about hourly. The ride takes 21–25 minutes. The airport is in fare zone 1, so the standard ZTM tickets are valid: 75 minutes for 4.40 zł, 20 minutes for 3.40 zł or 24 hours for 15 zł.

By bus

Bus 175 runs from the arrivals level via Warszawa Centralna, Centrum metro and Nowy Świat to Piłsudski Square in about 25–30 minutes, often every 10–15 minutes. At night the N32 goes to the centre. Board on the arrivals level, not the departures level. A 75-minute ticket (4.40 zł) is safer than the 20-minute one in traffic.

By taxi

The airport recommends licensed taxis from the official rank on the arrivals level; the tariff must be displayed on the window. A ride to the centre costs about 50–65 zł. Ignore unlicensed drivers offering rides inside the hall.

What to choose

One or two people with light luggage: the train or bus 175, for 4.40 zł. A family, a group or a business arrival with a schedule: a transfer, which for a van of six costs less than €12 each.

Good to know

  • Buy a 75-minute ticket rather than a 20-minute one: traffic can make the bus slower.
  • Board buses on the arrivals level; on the departures level they only drop off.
  • Take taxis only from the official rank or a booked service.
