Short answer: by car it is 234 km, about 2 h 35 min via the A4 motorway. There is one direct train a day (TLK, about 05:44, 3 h 01 min, from 71 zł); other trains need a change in Trzebinia or Czechowice-Dziedzice and take 3 h 48 min to 4 h 48 min (from 86–102 zł). FlixBus stops at the Museum but the ride takes at least 5 h 35 min (from about 73 zł). By train

Only one direct train runs: TLK Planty, leaving Wrocław Główny at about 05:44 and arriving after 3 h 01 min, from 71 zł. Other connections change in Trzebinia or Czechowice-Dziedzice and take 3 h 48 min to 4 h 48 min, from 86–102 zł. The last sensible departure is around 15:15, too late for a visit in winter. Oświęcim station is 1.5–2 km from the Museum.

By bus

FlixBus runs about five times a day (02:20–11:15) from Wrocław bus station (ul. Sucha 1) and other stops to the Museum. The route is indirect (339 km), so the fastest ride is 5 h 35 min. Fares start at about 73 zł.

By car

The quickest road is the A4 to Katowice and then the S1, DK44 and DK933: 234 km, about 2 h 35 min with clear roads. Roadworks and traffic near Gliwice and Katowice are common. The Museum car park at ul. Więźniów Oświęcimia 55 is free.

Where you meet the driver

For the tour the driver collects you from your hotel or address in Wrocław at the agreed time and brings you back after the visit. If you arrive by plane, the driver waits in the arrivals hall at Wrocław Airport with a sign showing your name; we track the flight and you get 60 minutes of free waiting after landing.

What to choose

One person on a budget who can leave at dawn: the direct TLK train. Everyone else, especially in autumn and winter when the last entry is 14:00–15:00: a car or our private tour, which gets you there in about 2.5 hours and back the same evening.
