The SKA1 train

The fastest option during the day. A covered walkway takes you from the terminal to the platform, and the train reaches Krakow Glowny station in about 20 minutes. The ticket costs a few euros and you can buy it from a machine or from the conductor. Trains run roughly every half hour, though there are gaps in the evening and at night, so check the timetable if you land late.

Who it suits: travelling light, you know the city and you want to pay the least.

The bus

A daytime line drops you near the centre, and a night bus runs after hours. Cheaper than the train, but slower and usually with a short walk with your suitcase at the end.

Who it suits: on a budget, in no hurry.

A taxi from the rank

Taxis wait outside the terminal. A ride to the centre is usually 90 to 120 PLN (approx. 23 to 30 EUR), more in traffic or in the evening, and the metered amount is hard to predict in advance.

Who it suits: door to door, with no planning ahead.

A private transfer at a fixed price

The driver waits in arrivals with a name sign, helps with your luggage and takes you straight to your hotel. The price is agreed in advance: from 200 PLN (approx. 50 EUR) per car (1 to 3 people), whatever the traffic or the hour. We track your flight number, so even if the plane is late the driver still waits. For a family or a group with luggage it works out more comfortable and more predictable than stitching together a train and a taxi.

What to choose

Travelling alone, light and by day, take the train. If every zloty counts, take the bus. With luggage, children, a late flight or simply wanting a calm arrival, take a transfer to the door. And if you are also planning a day out to Wieliczka, Oswiecim or Zakopane, you can book the same driver for the whole day. You will find every rate in the Krakow price list.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to get from Balice airport to the centre of Krakow?

About 20 minutes on the SKA1 train, and 20 to 40 minutes by car depending on traffic. The airport is around 11 kilometres from the Main Market Square.

How much is a taxi or transfer from Balice to the centre?

A taxi from the rank is usually 90 to 120 PLN (approx. 23 to 30 EUR), and more in traffic. A fixed price private transfer starts from 200 PLN (approx. 50 EUR) per car for up to 3 people, whatever the hour or the traffic.

What is the cheapest way from the airport into town?

The cheapest options are the SKA1 train or the bus. The train is faster; the bus is usually a little cheaper but involves a change or a short walk.

Is a transfer worth it if I am flying with children?

Yes. The driver waits with a name sign, helps with the luggage, and child seats are included. You know the cost upfront and you are not fiddling with tickets after a night flight.
