Wolf's Lair — Hitler's Secret Wartime Headquarters
Wolf's Lair (German: Wolfsschanze, Polish: Wilczy Szaniec) was Adolf Hitler's secret military headquarters in East Prussia — the largest and most complex of his wartime command bunkers. Hidden deep in the Masurian forests, the complex comprises over 200 concrete structures spread across 250 hectares of dense woodland.
On 20 July 1944, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg detonated a bomb here in an attempt to assassinate Hitler. The plot failed, but the site remains one of the most compelling WWII destinations in Europe. Today, the massive bunkers — now overgrown with moss and trees — stand as silent witnesses to history. An unmissable experience for anyone interested in WWII.
