The Riese ("Giant") complex is a network of unfinished underground structures that the Nazis dug in the Owl Mountains at the end of the Second World War. Osówka and Włodarz, among others, are open to visitors — kilometres of tunnels, corridors and mysterious chambers whose purpose historians still debate. It is a remarkable, if dark, chapter in the history of Lower Silesia.
