Short answer: by train you can easily reach Malbork on your own (24–31 min, from 23 zł), Sopot and Gdynia (SKM) and Toruń (one direct train in the morning). Public transport is hard for Stutthof (bus about 1 h 20 min, museum open until 15:00 in winter), Frombork, Kashubia beyond Kartuzy and Wolf's Lair (about 7 km from Kętrzyn station with no confirmed bus). Our private tours cost per person from €30 (Westerplatte) to €110 (Wolf's Lair) for 8 people; smaller groups pay more per person.

Where the train is enough

Malbork is the easiest trip by public transport: the train takes 24–31 minutes and the castle is a 15–20 minute walk from the station. Note: from October to April the Historic Route has shorter hours, and the castle website gives the last entry as 12:45, so leave in the morning. The Historic Route ticket costs 80 zł (standard, winter season). Sopot and Gdynia are on the SKM line, with trains every 10–15 minutes. One direct train runs to Toruń in the morning; later you need a change.

Where a driver saves the most

  • Wolf's Lair: over 3 hours by train each way and about 7 km from the station with no confirmed bus. With a driver you go right to the site, and tickets and a guide are included.
  • Stutthof: since 1 October the museum closes at 15:00 (last entry 14:30), and on Sundays only 4 buses run.
  • Frombork: there is no train, and the bus usually needs a change in Elbląg.
  • Hel: the seasonal boats from Gdańsk and Sopot ended on 12 October and the water tram from Gdynia runs until 31 October; in winter it is the train with a change in Gdynia.
  • Kashubia: the train reaches Kartuzy, but we found no reliable link to Szymbark or the Wdzydze open-air museum.

How the price works

The tour price is per person and falls as the group grows, because the car and driver cost the same. For example, Malbork costs €130 per person for 2 people (€260 in total) and €75 per person for 8 people. For comparison: two people by train to Malbork and back plus Historic Route tickets cost at least 4 × 23 zł + 2 × 80 zł. So for 1–2 people, public transport to Malbork is clearly cheaper; a tour with a driver makes sense for a family, a bigger group or when comfort matters. The driver is not a guide. Payment upfront by card, free cancellation up to 24 h before pickup.

Prices are in euros. You can also pay in złoty at the NBP average rate of the day (on 27 October 2026: €1 = 4.4056 zł).
